4 ways to incorporate vintage pieces into your space
Incorporating vintage pieces into your space adds charm and character to your decor. It also means you can integrate heirlooms into a space and I love the fact that these pieces tell a story. It’s also better for the environment to re-use and re-purpose furniture, which I am big on!
Here are 4 ways you can do this.
1. Statement furniture: choose a standout vintage piece like a mid-century chair or a retro coffee table to anchor a room. Pieces like these have unique deign and craftmanship and a great history.
2. Mix old with new: Pair vintage items with modern decor to create a contrast. For example an ornate mirror above a minimalist console table can add depth and stop the space looking dated.
3. Repurpose vintage finds: Give vintage/retro finds a new purpose. I love old suitcases and hatboxes as side tables/ magazine holders. They look great and more importantly, it’s sustainable.
4. Look into vintage artwork and decorative pieces like vases and candle holders. These items are easy to integrate into your home. Don’t worry about things matching, mismatched coloured glass and ceramics all add to a personalized space.
My favourite thing to do at the weekend is visit charity shops and trawl through Vinterior. You never know what bargains you will find and it just feels right to give your vintage finds a new life.
