Happy New Year! Is this the year you will try to thrift and re-purpose?

Scandi style kitchen

Happy New Year! I am so excited to see what 2025 will bring in all things sustainable. To me, a sustainable interior is about living with intention but not compromising on design. It is still possible to create the style that you want by re-using or repurposing furniture and accessories. If you are de-cluttering please consider donating to charity or selling things on. If you need to buy new, buy the best. You want your purchases to last.

Personally this year, I will be designing my kitchen, as unfortunately we had a water leak and there was quite a lot of damage to the existing units.

I am designing a scandi style kitchen with only lower cupboards and live edge wooden shelves above. I absolutely love Ben Simpson’s furniture as it is all handcrafted in the UK, so I will be sourcing shelves from there.

We will try and keep the shell of the cupboards and add painted doors or curtains.

I will reclaim some tiles, I’m looking at Fired Earth for these.

Finally, I am looking forward to displaying my coloured candle holders on open corner shelving. I have collected candle holders from charity shops, Vinterior and antique shops over the years and they will look fabulous altogether.
